Yesterday we decided to scout some new trails. We discovered Sand Lakes Quiet Area We didn't see much of it, but what we did see was nice. When we first got there, we turned down the wrong road and found a narrow trail that followed a small river. We followed that for about a half mile before we walked onto private property. No harm done, we backtracked and found the spot we were looking for. The trails are part of the North Country Trail Association and are wide and easy to navigate. We walked down to one of the lakes and learned a new word- marl. It's a deposit made from clay and calcium carbonate, commonly known as mud. We didn't spend a lot of time there, enough for everyone to play in the marl and have fun. We are looking forward to going back and seeing more.
