Wave the green flag already

Have you watched a Nascar race lately? The coverage has gotten out of control. You tune in to see the race and watch countless interviews with everyone from the guy who glues the lug nuts to the rim to the guy that cooks Tony Stewart's lunch. After an hour or so of worthless blather we are treated to the pre race "ceremony". It includes a prayer, "Lord, help us to run the high line and keep our tires inflated." Then we get to hear an oversung National Anthem followed by a taxpayer funded military fly by. After the crowd settles down we watch the drivers climb in the car while a crew member helps them put on their gloves, helmet, head and neck restraints. After a brief commercial message, they present either a corporate bigwig or second rate celebrity to give the command to fire the engines. Now we are only a quarter hour away from the actual start of the race. If you were dumb enough to tune in an hour and a half ago, you have seen at least 30 total minutes of commercials without actually seeing anything worthwhile.
The race coverage is no picnic either, since Benny Parsons died, I have found very little to hold my attention for more than 10 minutes. The blame lies with Fox who set a new standard for doofus in broadcasting. A few years ago Nascar was the fastest growing "sport" in the nation. If things don't change, Nascar will find itself at the bottom of the food chain next to the NBA and NHL.

Word up, brother. Friggin', stinkin' NBC completely ruined last years night Bristol race with a slew of commercial breaks during the last 100 laps. I'll never forgive them for that.
