We are in the midst of a heat wave. OK it's been over 40 for the weekend. I'm not going to break out the sunscreen just yet, winter will soon rewrap it's grey fingers around the scrotum of Northern Michigan. That last line is some of the worst writing I have ever seen. I took advantage of the tropical blast by cleaning my car. The kids can stop wearing wool socks on their hands because the hoard of mittens and gloves they left in my back seat are inside again. I've removed the block of ice that accumulated on the driver's side floorboard and washed away the coat of salt on the exterior. My dusty white car is blue again. Ready for (hopefully) the last push of winter.
While I was out and about today I saw people driving with their window down, pale legs dropping out of wrinkled shorts and the smiles of huddled masses finally feeling the warmth that seemed so distant. It's all just a facade, it will be back below freezing before next weekend.
