Man, it's hard to take pictures of puppies. It was next to impossible getting
Reese to slow down enough for a picture and the only time these two are sitting still is when they're sleeping. The puppies in this picture are our latest attempt at getting our family equipped with canine support. The last attempt, Reese, didn't quite fit in. We found out that she wasn't a pointer like we thought, but a
Plott. I've always been a bird dog guy, their temperament fits in well with our lifestyle. They like to go for nice quiet walks in the woods and play in water, fetch things. Plott Hounds like to
bark and chase things up trees and bark. I said bark twice because they really like to bark. I didn't want to take her back to
the pound, but the dog and Anny couldn't see eye to eye on a couple of important issues. For example, Anny didn't want to get bit in the face and Reese thought she did. There was never any real biting but Reese made it very clear that she intended to. I talked to the director of the pound about Reese and her personality and reluctantly returned her. They found her a home a couple weeks after that. I would assume it was somewhere where there were no small kids or heavy traffic. I learned a lot from that experience. I learned that
Link was one hell of a good dog, the kids learned that dogs don't just show up doing what you tell them to do. So now we realize we have to start over at square one.
It would be more accurate to say square one and two. The picture above is the two pups we fostered for a rescue organization. They are orphans from a litter of thirteen born around Dec 10. I don't know much about the situation. I know they are Boxer/Lab mutts but I don't know which dog was the mother. I don't know how big they are going to get, I don't know about the parent's personalities. I know I can get the answers and am interested in knowing. I do know that a very nice woman took the newborn puppies in. I think they divided the litter between two families, one group got to eat with a litter of pit bulls. I don't know if these pups did or not, but they sure are
rough with each other.
See how I just contributed to an untrue and negative stereotype?
So here they are, our new pups. The brown one is Luke and the tan one is Leia. They look and act a lot like boxers, particularly the way they hop around and bat at each other like cats (or pugilists). In a few weeks, they will be old enough to adopt and we'll go from fostering to owning, at least as much as you can own a dog.
I need a bigger car.
