More improvement

When we came in this morning, the nurse told me that they are getting closer to letting Kevin breathe on his own. His blood gasses are all good and he was trying to pull the tube out himself last night. She called him spunky. They have him down to 24% oxygen, they are worried that if he doesn't do well without the tube they may hurt his tender cleft trying to intubate him again. Another option is the bubble hood like he had at Munson. He seems to be responding well to the meds for his kidney functions and that shows improvement as well. His blood pressure is still a little low and when they decreased the dopamine, that came down more so they increased it again. They have him under a lamp to try to decrease his bilirubin level, it's still going up a little but I don't think that's an area of concern. He's wearing a Rubin Kincaid mask now to keep the light from bothering him although he seems to enjoy it. Here is a picture of his mask.
As I said yesterday, I have a short video (legal this time) of Tina cleaning him up and the nurse explaining some things. I am trying a new method to embed this so if it does not work, be patient.

1:15 PM- They just took the tube out of Kevin's mouth and gave him a less invasive looking nasal tube. He looked like he wanted to suck so the nurse gave him a pacifier. I will add a picture later. He looks a lot more comfortable now.

Kevin and Tina,

Looks like things are improving for you. I am very excited for you guys. I can't wait to see many more picture of the baby. He is something very special and I know God is watching over all of you. The video works for a minute and then stops. Just letting you know.
Love you all very much.

The video stops for just a second, then starts back up, sure its just "buffering" or whatever it is called. So thankful that he continues to improve, I know you have a long road ahead of you yet, hope you know we'll be there for you as needed. Thanks Kevin for taking the time to keep us all updated on little K's progress. As always your in our prayers...Love and hugs...
