More progress

Kevin is eating well, I fed him today and he ate about half with the bottle- the rest we sent straight to his stomach with a tube. There was some concern when we started with a bottle that he may bot be able to protect his airway because of his neurological impairment. I think the video here clearly demonstrates that he will involuntarily protect his airway. His kidney functions are slowly showing improvement as well. There was even talk today about moving him to a regular crib in the near future.

Here is a picture of Jon helping Tina with the bottle, because Kevin does not have a normally developed mouth, we have to help him get milk with a special bottle. Eventually we will have the whole family involved with feeding. It takes some getting used to

6:30PM-Kevin is now breathing the same air as the rest of us, we took the tube out of his nose while I was feeding him today. We have to go home tomorrow, it looks like we will just be coming down for the weekend for a while. It sucks to have to do that but Jon has to start school on Tuesday and Annie will start soon after that. Our hope is that Kevin can come home in the next couple weeks. It's important that the nurses keep giving him the bottle. We have heard stories of some nurses using the feeding tube because it's easier. We are just going to have to keep calling and checking, being a pain in the ass if that's what it takes.

We ventured up to the roof of the parking garage today to look around. I took this picture up there.
