We are full

The house is full of flowers and the fridge is filled with food. The service yesterday was perfect. I saw a lot of faces in the crowd that surprised me. We were touched by all the people who showed up. There were also a lot who couldn't attend and wanted to. I got a bunch of messages like that. Even though they weren't there in person, I felt them. For those who didn't attend, I will sum it up- When we met with the pastor to plan the service, we explained that we were sad to lose Kevin but also happy that we had some time with him and happy that he is at peace. He got that message across perfectly. I couldn't be more pleased.
Another person that couldn't attend was my niece, she was giving birth to her first at the same time the memorial started. I think there is a message in there somewhere, they were saying hello while we were saying goodbye. We went up to the hospital last night to visit them, they are all doing well.
The hall where we had the luncheon was less than two blocks from the funeral home, it was a beautiful day so we walked along the river to the hall. I think doing something familiar like that helped clear our heads and got us ready to mingle with all the people who stayed for lunch. The lunch was great, good food and good company. Tina and I both got to talk to people we haven't seen in a while. Annie spent some time recruiting and training for her Buckethead Brigade.
I look outside today and see the sun is shining, maybe we can get out for a stroll today. I think we should take advantage of the sunlight before winter comes. I think it may come on us fast this year.

All day long I kept thinking of you guys. I was hoping and praying this service would be what it needed to be for everybody, and I am pleased that it was. I am one of those people who so badly wished I could come, but could not. I'm glad to hear that the support was there, including the surprise visitors.

I got the copy of the service that you sent me. It was, indeed, beautiful. I love you, brother.

It was also great to talk to you the other day. I know I needed it. We need to put a day of the week/month/ (let's NOT let it get to be) year to sit and talk like we did.

The memorial for Little Kevin was lovely and we are glad we were able to be there with you. It was also nice to spend some time with you, Tina and the kids on Thursday. We made it home safe and sound and will continue to keep you all in our prayers.

Love, Ray & Laura
